Farming isn't a job for Frank and Jamie — it's a calling passed down through generations. What started as families simply raising cattle to sustain their own has grown into something much bigger: a passion for feeding their community well & protecting the land they love.
Ford Farm and Tuckwiller Brothers Farm are separately owned and independently run — but they share the same values: sustainable grazing, homegrown feed, natural water sources, and cattle raised with integrity. That's what goes into every package of Mountain Steer beef.
Ford Farm has been raising cattle since 1916. Frank runs the operation today alongside his dad, Glen, and the two are proud to care for the same ground their family has worked for over a century.
Ford Farm raises Black Angus cattle using sustainable rotational grazing, moving the herd regularly so the pastures never get overgrazed and the ground stays healthy year after year. Their cattle drink from natural spring wells and eat a blend of corn silage along with clover, orchard grass, and alfalfa cut - all from their fields. It's a small, hands-on operation made possible by five generations of knowledge & skill.
Jamie and his dad, Matt, carry on a family farming tradition that stretches back further than most family businesses in the country. Together, they run this longstanding farm to ensure that the land is well-kept and the cattle is thriving.
Tuckwiller Brothers Farm raises both Black Angus and Hereford cattle, and they breed the two together to produce Black Baldy cattle — known for hardiness and great marbling. Like Ford Farm, their cattle are watered from natural spring wells and fed with their own hay and corn silage to produce the highest quality product.
